Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  2024  Day 134

May 13;       2 Thessalonians 3:6;        190/260;        ‘Disorderly’

2 Thessalonians 3:6 But we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw from every brother who walks disorderly and not according to the tradition which he received from us.

The Bible has much to say about who to fellowship with.  Bad company ruins good manners (I Corinthians 15:33 Message Bible).  We are taught not to spend time with angry people or we will learn their ways (Proverbs 22:24-25).  Romans 1:18-31 tells us the Lord’s wrath will be revealed against ungodly and unrighteous men.  Conversely Paul encourages the church in Corinth to imitate him as he imitates Jesus.  It will always bless you to be with believers who will help you grow in your walk with the Lord.  It is like playing a sport.  It is always good to play against someone who is better than you, because you will get better at this sport and learn from the one you play against.  Paul teaches that the things you learned, received, heard and saw in him, do these things.  Paul was not bragging upon himself.  There was a healthy knowledge inside Paul of who the Lord Jesus had called him to be.  Paul refused to allow anything to prevent him from fulfilling this call.  Paul was incredibly grateful for the Lord’s forgiveness, when Paul persecuted the church.  He was trusted by the Lord to teach the universal church powerful truths as the Holy Spirit revealed these truths to him.  ‘Disorderly’ means someone out of step in a marching military column.  This verse clearly teaches that this believer was taught by Paul what he should do, but chose not to do what Paul instructed.  We have the privilege to continue the ministry of Jesus.  Nothing is more exciting or rewarding.  Refuse to associate with those who do not feel the same way.
