Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  2024  Day 112

April 21;       Ephesians 1:22;        169/260;        The Head of the Church’

Ephesians 1:22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church,

Ephesians is an incredibly powerful Book.  In chapters 1 and 3, there a prayers that Christians should pray for themselves and other believers.  Let us just focus in on this one verse in the chapter 1 prayer.  The Lord Jesus Christ redeemed us from our sins and sicknesses when He was crucified.  The sinless Jesus took the sins and sicknesses of humanity upon Himself and gave us His right standing with the Father and health and healing when we believe the gospel and accept Him as our Lord and Savior.  Jesus’ spirit went to hell and was punished for our transgressions.  When the price, in the sight of God the Father was paid, the Holy Spirit went and raised Jesus’ spirit from hell and reunited His spirit with His body.  Then the Lord Jesus returned to heaven and sat down at the right hand of the Father.  This verse teaches that everything is under the feet of Jesus, including satan and his demonic forces.  The Father also declared Jesus to be the Head of the Church.  The universal Church, worldwide is called the Body of Christ.  We are told in Ephesians 2:6, that the Church has been raised up legally and positionally and we are now seated at the Father’s right hand with Jesus.  Since Jesus is far above demonic forces and we are seated with Him, we too are far above the demonic forces that would bring misery and suffering to our lives.  The Lord wants you and I to understand this and believe this.  We have been given authority over the devil.  Adam had that authority, but lost it to satan, when he sinned.  Jesus took that authority away from satan when He rose, giving it to the Church.  We can live free.
