Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  2024  Day 107

April 16;        Galatians 2:19;        107/260;         ‘Dead & Alive’

Galatians 2:19 For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God.

God’s Word is so fascinating.  Religion would demand that we would do what we were never created to do – keep the Law.  The role of the Law was to very clearly reveal to us that we are sinners and are separated from the Lord by our sins.  Why would the Lord want to reveal this to us?  To show us that we have an eternal problem that we cannot solve and we need the Lord’s help to be made right with Him.  The Law was a huge signpost pointing directly to the Lord Jesus Christ for His help.  The Lord Jesus fulfilled the Law by living a sinless life.  He deserved all of the blessings Deuteronomy 28:1-14 spoke of.  We know that the Lord did not take the blessings, but on the cross took our sins and the punishment for our sins that we rightly deserved.  Jesus is turn gave us His righteousness, His right standing with the Father and He also gave us the blessings He deserved.  We are alive unto God when we accept what Jesus did for us.  The Bible teaches that there is no greater love than Someone who lays down His life for the sake of others.  The intention of the Lord in doing this is surely that we would spend eternity with God the Father and Jesus.  The intention is also that because we are rational beings, having the love of God in our spirit, His love should make a profound effect upon us.  As we read the Word and see that everything Jesus did for us was because of His great love.  Knowing this should open our spirit to love Him in return and live a life pleasing unto Him, continuing His work so others know the truth.
