Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 98
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 98
April 8; Titus 2:1; 98/260(II); ‘Sound Doctrine’
Titus 2:1 But as for you, speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine:
How serious this verse makes the necessity to teach God’s Word accurately. God’s Word is the Lord speaking to us. The Lord never contradicts His Word. If a person has a vision and thinks it is Jesus in the vision and the one in the vision says something that contradicts the Word, it is not Jesus. The Lord gave us His Word to teach us about Him and to protect us from untruths that are taught about Him. Without God’s Word, the only information we have about the Lord is what others say about Him or what is written in other documents. Our eternal life and relationship with Jesus is too important to accept any information other than what the Bible teaches. The Lord Jesus taught us that the Word of God is truth. Since the Word of God is truth, anything else is not the truth. God’s Word is misquoted all of the time. If we, as Christians, are not diligent to spend quality time reading the Word, we are vulnerable to deception. A perfect example is healing. If you take time to study the Word of God concerning healing, it is very clear that Jesus Christ is our Healer. Some, based on their own experience or the experience of others concerning healing, will literally misrepresent the Word of God to explain away the reason for their not being healed. God’s Word clearly teaches things we must do to cooperate with the Lord for our healing. It is always the Lord’s will to heal. If those having difficulty in this area will honestly assess their circumstances and change things that need to be changed, their healing will surely manifest. Know the Word. The Word is sound doctrine given by the Lord to bless us.
