Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 94
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 94
April 4; 2 Timothy 2:15; 94/260(II); ‘The Word of Truth’
2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
God’s Word is truth. This verse clearly teaches that it must be rightly divided. In other words, the Word must be taught correctly so that it can benefit those who hear it. If God’s Word can be rightly divided, it can be wrongly divided as well. That is why ministers and really all Christians must be diligent to carefully read and study the Word. Sharing the Word with others is so vitally important. Since the Word’s Author is the Holy Spirit, the Bible is literally the Lord speaking to us. Paul was exhorting Timothy to spend time in study and preparation in the messages he was going to teach to the congregation of the church in Ephesus. The spiritual health and maturity depends on believers being taught the Word of God accurately. Paul tells Timothy in this verse that accurately teaching the Word of God is work. It takes time and effort to make sure that what we convey to others concerning the Word is as clear and accurate as it possibly can be. That is true if you are preaching to a congregation or sharing with someone on the street. God’s Word has the power to change lives, the power to bring salvation to those who hear it (Romans 1:16). We are privileged to have incredible resources to help us rightly divide the Word. Even if you are not a ‘Five Fold’ minister, the need to make sure what you share with others about the scriptures is accurate. If you are diligent to do your best when you share the Word with others, the Holy Spirit will help you. He will also bring to your remembrance other verses that will help you to accurately present the Word. The Word changes lives, what an honor we have to teach it.
