Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 83
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 83
March 24; I Thessalonians 5:17; 83/260(II); ‘Pray Without Ceasing’
1 Thessalonians 5:17 pray without ceasing,
This short verse is not some legalistic bondage that we have to do. Prayer can be part of everything we do, if we choose to make it so. Prayer is really an attitude of your heart. When you rise in the morning, telling the Lord good morning, thanking Him for the gift of another day of life, declaring how much you love Him is prayer. Start by praying for those in authority and for America. Praying in tongues is the easiest way to accomplish what this verse tells us. You can pray in tongues as you are getting ready for the day, while you are driving to work and quietly while you are working. As you do this, the Bible says that you are building your faith, edifying your spirit and if you sing in tongues or worship the Lord in tongues, the Bibles teaches that we are worshipping the Lord well. When you are praying for a specific circumstance, pray initially in your understanding and then, since we never know all of the details of a situation, finish your prayer in tongues because the Holy Spirit knows all of the details and He will help you pray the exact things needed to make your prayer powerful. Smith Wigglesworth said that if you see him all alone, he is praying. What an exciting reality in his life. When we realize that prayer changes things, the more we are praying the more things we are changing. Kenneth E. Hagin always taught us that we should ‘keep our spiritual antennae up’ all day long. Be vigilant to look for those who need prayer or circumstances that need prayer to change them. Our lives can and must bless multitudes in many ways. Praying without ceasing is a powerful part of this.
