Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 76

March 17;    Colossians 1:20;    76/260(II);    ‘Reconciled By Jesus’

Colossians 1:20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.

The Lord Jesus Christ reconciled all things back to God the Father.  Verse 19 teaches that this was the Father’s will.  That by His only begotten Son, Jesus, we would be reconciled back to God the Father.  The word ‘reconcile’ means to change from being an enemy to being a friend.  Pertaining to the Lord Jesus, reconcile means what God the Father accomplished, extending His grace towards sinful man through the death of the Lord Jesus Christ on our behalf.  Sin came between us and a relationship with God the Father.  The Father loved mankind too much to allow this to be permanent, so He sent Jesus to take our sins upon Himself, thus reconciling us back to the Lord.  This verse teaches that by the blood of Jesus all things were reconciled back to the Father.  On earth, the Lord Jesus took care of sins and sicknesses through the cross.  In heaven, when the Lord Jesus arose from the dead, He went into the heavenly Holy of Holies and there presented His blood.  I believe that this was the most sacred moment in history.  Once the blood of the Lord Jesus was presented in the heavenly Holy of Holies sin was cleansed for humanity.  Reconciliation was made in earth and in heaven.  Peace between Almighty God and mankind was restored.  When we accept what the Lord Jesus did we are given right standing with the Father.  The Holy Spirit comes to live in our spirit, changing our spirit from hard and spiritually dead to alive, alive unto God.  The Holy Spirit deposited the love of God and the fruit of the Spirit into our spirit as well.  Reconciled to God by Jesus.  The greatest gift of all time.
