Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 57
February 26; 2 Corinthians 11:14; 57/260(II); ‘An ‘Angel’ of LIght’
2 Corinthians 11:14 And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. NIV
The Bible calls satan a liar and a deceiver. He is the prince of the power of the air. His primary objective is to keep people away from the Word of God. If satan can keep us away from the Word, he can deceive us with other information. The very first appearance of satan, in the garden of Eden, in Genesis 3, clearly shows us his motive. The devil challenged the Word of God. The New International Version of the Bible tells us that satan masquerades as an angel of light. He is really a fallen angel of death. When Adam sinned, the authority he was given by the Lord was yielded to the devil. The earth is cursed and the chaos we see in this world is the result of the devil, not the Lord. Satan blames the Lord for the tragedy and misery we see. If we do not know the Lord and His Word we often believe the lies the devils spreads. The world, without the knowledge of Jesus Christ, is alienated from God and opposed to the Lord. Religious teachings not based on the Word, other religions, evolution, the Bible mocked, Christians said to be intolerant, etc. are all part of the strategy of the ‘angel of light,’ to keep you away from the Bible. The information offered by those deceived by satan, often by scholarly people, has one goal in mind, the eternal separation of a person from the love of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ took the authority of satan away from him when Jesus rose from the dead. Those who are Christians are no longer ‘duped’ by satan. Our protection is the Word of God. Know it, believe it, live your life based on the Word. The Word cancels out the lies of the devil and reveals who he really is.
