Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 56
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 56
February 25; 2 Corinthians 10:3; 56/260(II); ‘Spiritual Weaponry’
2 Corinthians 10:3 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh.
The Bible tells us in I Timothy 6:12 that our opponents in life are not people, but demonic forces that negatively influence the unsaved. Since our enemies are spirits, we must have spiritual weapons to defeat them, and we do. In verse 4 of 2 Corinthians 10, we are told that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to defeat our foes. As Christians, we walk in the flesh as everyone else does, but we are victorious by fighting with spiritual weaponry. We have the Bible, which teaches very clearly that Jesus Christ defeated the devil. Jesus withstood the assaults of satan with the Word. The Bible teaches that Jesus took back from the devil the authority Adam lost when he sinned. Then Jesus gave that authority back to us, His church, to use, when He rose from the dead. The armor of God, described in Ephesians 6, calls God’s Word a two edged sword. ‘two edged’ actually means two mouthed. The Lord has already spoken the Word out of His mouth. God’s Word becomes a powerful weapon when the second mouth of the sword is ours. We also have the Name of Jesus to use as a weapon to defeat the demonic forces. The Bible teaches that because of the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross for us, God the Father gave Jesus the highest Name and every knee must bow to that Name. Demons are no exception, Jesus’ Name causes them to flee. Worship, powerfully singing or declaring your love for and faith in the Lord causes our enemy to flee. The devil and demons have no fear of natural weapons, but Spirit filled Christians, using the weapons given by the Lord, defeat satan’s hordes.
