Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 50
February 19; 2 Corinthians 4:18; 50/260(II); ‘Seeing the Unseen’
2 Corinthians 4:18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
This verse is a classic scripture on faith. The Bible teaches that we walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). Faith is the title deed of what we hope for, the conviction that what is not seen is ours (Hebrews 11:1). The Word also teaches that we are to believe that we have what we ask for in prayer when we pray, not when we receive the answer to our prayer (Mark 11:24). That is faith. As our faith grows, it is easier and easier to not look at the things we see in the natural. Well, if we do not look at what we see in the natural, what do we look at? We look at what the scriptures tell us is ours. The spiritual realm created and has ascendency over the natural realm. In the beginning, the Lord created everything with His mouth. Nothing existed, until He spoke it into existence. God spoke what He wanted. The Word of God is what the Lord wants and what is legally ours because of the sacrificial work of Jesus on our behalf. One way healing is received is by looking only at the Word of God, that teaches the Jesus is your Healer. You cease looking at or feeling the afflicted areas of your body. The power of the truth of God’s Word is greater than the sickness that has invaded your body. This verse teaches that what we see is temporary, meaning that it can change. Your faith in the Word of God can change any negative situation that you face. God’s Word is eternal. God’s Word is truth. God’s Word will build your faith to the point where you will never look at what you see, but only God’s Word.
