Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 365

December 31;   Hebrews 7:25;   211/260(I);   ‘Never Changing Priesthood’

Hebrews 7:25 Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.

A comparison is being made between the Levitical priesthood and the High Priesthood of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Since the Levitical priests only served for a set number of years while they were on the earth, until they passed away, their ministry was limited.  The Lord Jesus is in heaven forevermore and has an unchanging, eternal Priesthood.  This verse teaches that salvation is available to everyone.  The sacrificial work of the Lord Jesus on the cross made salvation available to everyone, but the Lord does not stop there.  The Lord Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father.  What is He doing?  One thing is for sure, according to this verse, He is praying for the salvation of the lost.  Notice that we come to God the Father through the Lord Jesus Christ.  It was the Father’s plan to send Jesus to die for our sins and sicknesses.  The Lord Jesus was obedient to come to earth, become a Man, and be subjected to unthinkable pain and suffering on our behalf.  God the Father forgave us through the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus, but the Father declared that no one will be allowed into heaven unless they acknowledge the saving work the Lord Jesus did for them.  Religious error tells us good works, giving of money and keeping the law saves.  Now, the Word of God teaches, that with the marks of the crucifixion on Jesus’ forehead, back, hands and feet, our Lord and Savior is interceding that the Church will minister to the lost and that the lost will believe the gospel message, nothing else and be saved.  No one is beyond His saving grace, He can and does save to the uttermost.
