December 25;      Hebrews 1:3;       204/260(III);        ‘Jesus’ Words’

Hebrews 1:3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,

The Lord Jesus Christ is God.  God the Father, the Lord Jesus and the Holy Spirit.  The blessed Trinity.  Hebrews 11:3 teaches that the Lord Jesus created everything by the words that He spoke.  This verse tells us that the Lord upholds and  maintains everything by the word of His power.  Life as we know it continues because the Lord Jesus says so.  I do not know much about physics, but a young man who does told me that the nature of atoms causes them to desire to repel each other.  In other words, the atoms in a chair do not want to remain a chair, but they have to because the Lord Jesus says they have to.  Jesus’ sacrificial work on our behalf is finished, He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.  The Bible says that in heaven the Lord Jesus intercedes for us.  We now also know that He maintains the world we live in by His words.  There will be changes as the end time prophecies come to pass, but until then, things will not change until Jesus says so.  We are made in the image of the Lord and are spiritual beings.  Since we are, we have power in our words to uphold all things in our lives as well.  The Lord gave us His Word to teach us about Him and to teach us also who we are in Christ and what we have.  We speak only what we want, in line with the Word of God.  We never speak negative words that do not uphold our lives.  The Lord Jesus is our Example in many ways.  What He says is one of them.
