December 18;      2 Timothy 2:2;       197/260(III);        ‘Faithful Men’

2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.

This is a very important verse.  Godly ministers like Paul are called by the Lord and teach the Word.  This is incredibly important for everyone, especially ministers.  In turn, Timothy, a Pastor, will teach what he has learned from Paul to his congregation.  Timothy will learn additionally from his own personal studies, and build upon the foundation Paul laid in his life.  Notice, what Paul taught Timothy, Timothy will teach to others, who will then teach others.  There is one vital ingredient here.  What Timothy teaches is for everyone he ministers to, but it is really committed to faithful believers.  Anyone can be a faithful learner and they can then teach what they learn to others.  Unfortunately not everyone is faithful to learn, implement and pass it on.  As a minister, Timothy had the responsibility to learn from his elders and seasoned ministers.  He did this.  Now Timothy will teach what he has learned from Paul and by personal study to the believers he is entrusted with.  Some of them will do little or nothing with what Timothy teaches.  They are converts, who will go to heaven, but unless they change, they will have very little impact on others for Jesus.  Bless the Lord that there are many who are very serious about Jesus and desire with all of their heart to continue His ministry.  They will learn what Timothy teaches, internalize it and teach others that they minister to.  Our job is to faithfully learn the Word and teach others.  On and on it goes.
