Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 346
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 346
December 12; 1 Timothy 2:2; 190/260(III); ‘The Power of Prayer’
1 Timothy 2:2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.
Paul, who arguably had the greatest revelation of the things of God, exhorts us, using many words for prayer, to pray for all men (verse 1). Prayer is the most powerful force on earth. Prayer focuses God’s attention on what you are praying for and prayer changes things. Paul teaches us the importance of praying for those who have authority over us in the natural. These men and women, are in position to do the most good for our country or city. Notice, Paul does not tell us to pray for them if we like them or agree with them. Sincere prayer for our leaders can bring the Lord’s presence upon these leaders, helping them to make proper, godly decisions. This verse tells us that our prayers can bring stability to the land, so that we and those in our country or city could then live quietly and peaceably. Verses 3 and 4 states that this is what the Lord wants, because this is the best ‘climate’ to have the most people saved. As Christians, we have the responsibility to pray. Prayer changes things and our Lord Jesus Christ was our Example of a Man who prayed. When we pray, we join forces with the Lord Jesus as we talk to God the Father in the Name of Jesus, asking Him to intervene on this earth. One of the ways we change this world is by our prayers. The pressures on those in authority is incredible. Think of the blessing it is for us to ask the Lord to help those leaders do the job they have been assigned to do. Prayer changes things for the better.
