Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 344
December 10; 2 Thessalonians 3:16; 188/260(III); ‘The Lord of Peace’
2 Thessalonians 3:16 Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace always in every way. The Lord be with you all.
The Lord Jesus is called prophetically the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Jesus also tells us that there are two kinds of peace (John 14:27). The peace the world offers is only yours when there is nothing disturbing going on in your life. The peace of God, is a relationship between you and the Lord Jesus Christ. Philippians 4:6-7 teaches us that we should not be anxious about anything. How could we possibly do that? We can do that because the Lord said that He would never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5). That means that when we face challenging circumstances, we are in a relationship with the King of Kings. He is infinitely bigger than the challenge we face. We are to pray in faith about the circumstances we face and then worship the Lord thanking Him for dealing with what is going on for us. He always will. God’s peace is ours when we become born again. Peace is one of the fruit of the Spirit and is deposited in our spirit when we are saved. The peace of God does not mean freedom from circumstances, it means the presence of Someone (Jesus) in our life who loves us and will help us in whatever we face. We have been given the peace of God, we must believe that and live accordingly. Philippians 4:6 tells us to be anxious for nothing. It takes faith to do this. By faith begin to do this. Each time you resist feelings and thoughts of fear and Jesus comes through for you, your faith will grow. Jesus’ peace will bless you in every way. No fear, answered prayer, increasing faith and a closer walk with Jesus is the result.
