Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 342
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 342
December 8; 2 Thessalonians 1:11; 186/260(III); ‘Made Worthy’
2 Thessalonians 1:11 With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. NIV
Paul, as usual, was praying for the church in Thessalonica. Paul prayed that the Lord would count or make the congregation worthy and empower them. When we become born again the Lord makes us righteous, He gives us right standing with Himself through Jesus. That is how He makes us worthy. The baptism in the Holy Spirit empowers us to continue the work the Lord Jesus started when He was here on the earth. Notice that the Lord makes you worthy and empowers you so that you can fulfill every good purpose you have. We are all called to do the work of the ministry of Jesus generally speaking. The Holy Spirit may lay on your heart specific things to do. This verse is so exciting. Whatever is laid on your heart to do for the kingdom of God, Jesus makes you worthy and empowers you to do it. By faith step out and do what you feel you are being led to do. Suppose you are wrong. You are never wrong in trying to minister to others. Continue to tell the Lord that you will do anything He calls you to do. The Holy Spirit will lead you and as time goes on you will learn to hear from the Holy Spirit more and more accurately. Even if you do miss it, the Lord loves your sincerity and effort. Never quit and soon you will begin to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit accurately and will accomplish specific things the Lord has for you to do. He sees your heart and effort, your ministry will fulfill exactly what He calls you to do.
