Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 329
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 329
November 25; Philippians 1:21; 175/260(III); ‘To Live is Christ’
Philippians 1:21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
This is a win, win scenario. Paul tells us in verse 23 that to go to heaven to be with the Lord Jesus is far better than being here on earth. If you are a Christian and believe the Word of God, you would have to agree. We cannot comprehend what eternity has in store for us as with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. As the song says, “I Can Only Imagine.” But the ministry minded Paul knows that there is much work to be done here. Everyone needs to hear the gospel and have a chance to make Jesus their Lord. No one was more committed to doing Jesus’ work than Paul. Nothing could stop him. Think about this. Heaven is our eternal home if we are born again. While we are here, we have the privilege to continue the ministry of Jesus. If you are serious about the things of the Lord, and determined to continue His work, you are incredibly vital to the Lord and to a world lost in sin. This verse, is short a sweet. Paul had no interest in the things of this world. His past persecution of Christians was forgotten and he tells us that the only thing he was interested in is going ever onward sharing Jesus and praying for people wherever he was led. Talk about heroes, talk about singleness of purpose. If we have our basic needs metg and are determined to seek and save the lost as Jesus did, our lives here will be so rewarding and fulfilling. Stuff is fine, but it is juststuff. Sharing Jesus, praying for others, leading them to Him is just as Paul said, “To live is Christ.”
