Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 327
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 327
November 23; Ephesians 5:16; 173/260(III); ‘Every Opportunity’
Ephesians 5:16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. NIV
I love this verse. The Lord Jesus made the most of every opportunity. The Bible says that if everything He did in His 3.5 year ministry were written down, there would not be enough room in the world to contain the books (John 21:25). A very well known biblical scholar tells us that the four gospels cover only about 27 days of Jesus’ ministry. What exactly does ‘making the most of every opportunity mean’? Every day before you go to work, school or begin your activities at home, pray and ask the Lord to use you this day. That He would put people in your path to share Jesus with or to pray with. Keep your spiritual eyes and ears alert for people or circumstances that you can become involved in, to minister to that person or persons. The love of the Lord is in us, as you extend kindness and willingly listen, it is amazing what people will share with you in a very brief period of time. That is an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life. This verse teaches that the days are evil. We knew that before we read this verse. Because the days are evil, there are even more challenging situations people face that open the door for the love and power of the Lord to flow through you to them. Be sure to use the Name Jesus. God is a generic name and you do not know what ‘God’ means to others. Jesus gets right down to the heart of the matter. Obviously we are not glad for evil days, but they do open the door for ministry. Make the most of them.
