Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 320
November 16; Galatians 4:7; 166/260(III); ‘An Heir of the Lord’
Galatians 4:7 Now you are no longer a slave but God's own child. And since you are his child, everything he has belongs to you. NLT
Once we become born again, we are no longer a slave to sin nor to the Law. We are children of God by faith in Jesus Christ. Our salvation has nothing to do with what we did, but everything to do with what the Lord Jesus did for us. Several translations say that once we are born again, we are heirs of God. That means that everything the Lord has, legally belongs to us. How do we know what belongs to us? God’s Word is the last will and testament of the Lord Jesus Christ. If you are a Christian, every blessing in the Word of God is legally yours. How incredibly wonderful that is. There is a discipline involved here. You must take the time to find out what the Bible says is yours by reading the Bible. How foolish it would be, once you found out about this truth, to not take time to diligently read the Word of God to find out what the Lord, because He dearly loves you, has given you. It is one thing to not read the Word when you are not a Christian. Once you do accept the Lord Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior that is the starting point in your walk with Him. The primary way you grow as a Christian once you are born again is by the Word of God. What you are taught in a good, Bible believing church and what you learn by your own diligence reading. We all face challenges in life and we all have ‘issues.’ The Word of God teaches that you never face circumstances in life alone when you are saved. The Lord said He would never leave you nor forsake you. We are heirs of God, He freely gives us His blessings.
