Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 313
November 9; 2 Corinthians 10:5; 159/260(III); ‘Weapons of Warfare’
2 Corinthians 10:5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
2 Corinthians 10:3-5 teaches about the weapons of our warfare. Our mind is the area the devil attacks most. The Lord, knowing this, has given us spiritual weapons to protect us and enable us to be victorious over any attack of the evil one. Surely the Word of God is our primary weapon. Since God’s Word is truth, arguments against the Word and every high thing that tries to exalt itself against the knowledge of God cannot have the effect on our mind, the way the devil intends as long as we know what the Word says. The truth we know of the Word nullifies contrary worldly wisdom. The key to this is the Word of God cannot do what the Lord intended it to do, if we do not read the Word or know the Word. God’s Word protects us from what the world teaches and believes. Jesus told us if we continue in the Word we will know the truth and the truth we know will make us free from the knowledge of the world. The other major weapon we have is the Holy Spirit. Jesus told us the Holy Spirit would lead us into all the truth of God’s Word. The Word and the Holy Spirit allows you to ‘analyze’ the thoughts that come to you and accept the ones from the Lord and reject the ones that contradict or violate the Word. Thoughts of the devil to torment you or put fear in you will be rejected by knowing the Word of God and following the Holy Spirit. One name for the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth. He and the Word, will defeat the lies of satan always.
