Pastor Barry’s “Chapter & Verse” Day 309

November 5; 2 Corinthians 6:17; 155/260(III); ‘Come Out’

2 Corinthians 6:17 So leave the corruption and compromise; leave it for good, says God.
Dont link up with those who will pollute you. I want you all for myself. Message Bible
In verses 14-18 of this chapter the Lord is distinguishing between Christians and the lost. We are
likened unto Jesus and the unsaved to the devil (verse 15). The whole purpose of these verses is
to tell us to have nothing to do relationally with the unsaved. Once we are born again, if we are
serious about our walk with the Lord, we will, of our own volition, no longer hang around with
those who do not yet know Jesus. This verse teaches that they will pollute us spiritually. If you
are occasionally with the lost, our main focus should be on looking for opportunities to lead them
to Jesus. Those who are not born again think nothing of doing things that we, as Christians, do
not want to do. Two reasons to avoid them. First, if we continue to do what the lost do, and they
know that we are Christians, they will think very little of what we profess to be. Second, the

Lord Jesus paid a huge price for us. As we read the Word, continue to learn how to pray, attend
church, make new friends, our entire outlook on life changes. Who would ever love you as Jesus
does? Notice the end of this verse teaches that the Lord wants us all for Himself. To bless us, to
fellowship with us and to use us to lead those who are not yet born again to Jesus. When you are
with them, manifest the nature of the Lord Jesus. Be a good example to those you used to ‘run’
with. Let them see Jesus in you. Do not play ‘holier than thou,’ be real. Influence them for
Jesus not vice versa.
