Pastor Barry’s “Chapter & Verse” Day 308

November 4; 2 Corinthians 5:20; 154/260(III); ‘Ambassadors’

2 Corinthians 5:20 We are Christ's ambassadors, and God is using us to speak to you. We urge
you, as though Christ himself were here pleading with you, ";Be reconciled to God" NLT
What an honor we have to be ambassadors for the Lord Jesus Christ. In a sense ambassadors for
our ‘home country,’ heaven. What does an ambassador do? He or she represents their home
country and tells others about the country they live in. Now we do not literally live in heaven
yet, but because we are Christians, the Bible tells us that we are seated (relationally) with Jesus
Christ, in heaven, at the right hand of the Father. An ambassador is provided for by the country
he or she represents. We represent heaven, our Lord Jesus Christ. Our character and the way we
speak to others, reflects Jesus and the abundant blessings we have been given cause our lives to
be a powerful testimony of how wonderful our home is and the King who rules there. We are
eternally grateful to Jesus for all that He has done for us and one of the greatest privileges we
have is to share the Good News with people. We use the Name of Jesus, we minister the Word
kindly and accurately because we know our King and we want so much for others to know Him
as well. Notice the verse teaches it is as if Jesus Himself were speaking to the person through us.
The Holy Spirit will help you and bring scriptures to your remembrance to share. Our job is to
approach them and start talking. One last thing, in case of war, an ambassador is called home
before the battle starts. One day, before the tribulation, Jesus Christ will come in the clouds and
take us home.
