Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 297

October 24;      I Corinthians 10:24;       143/260(III);        ‘Seek Not Your Own’

1 Corinthians 10:24 Let no one seek his own, but each one the other's well-being.

The Bible very clearly teaches that the Lord meets every need you could ever have.  Since that is true, you are free to help others.  This is a very mixed up world.  People embrace as truth, things, at best, that cannot help them and very possibly could be detrimental to their wellbeing.  The Lord Jesus told us in John 8:31-32 that if we continue in the Word we will know the truth (God’s Word) and the truth we know makes us free.  If we are diligent to spend quality time daily in the Word, the Word has the power to free us from the deceptions of this world.  We then are free to do all we can to help others meet Jesus and begin to learn the same truth we know, so that they too can be free.  Everything in the Word reassures us of the Lord’s love and provision for those who are saved.  He wants us to believe that by faith, forget seeking only our own things and concentrate on helping others.  This is by far the best way to live.  Sharing biblical truths with others, encouraging them with the reality of how much they are loved by the Lord, praying for others and watching the Lord answer those prayers is the abundant life the Lord Jesus teaches about in His Word.  Stuff rusts, decays and gets old.  Helping others brings a joy and a fulfillment that nothing else can.  The Bible clearly teaches that the Father so loved that He gave Jesus.  When we seek the well- being of others we act just like the Lord and this pleases Him and He blesses us.
