Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 294
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 294
October 21; I Corinthians 7:23; 140/260(III); ‘Purchased’
1 Corinthians 7:23 God purchased you at a high price. Don't be enslaved by the world. NLT
The Lord Jesus purchased us not with silver or gold, but with His shed blood. We can never say that no one cares about us. God the Father and His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, loved you so much that Jesus suffered in a manner beyond our comprehension, taking our sins and sicknesses upon Himself and giving us His right standing with His Father. The devil could not stop you from becoming born again, but he will do all that he can to keep your attention focused on the things of the world. Your mind and body are the same once you become a Christian. There may be and probably are, things the world offers that used to take much of your time and attention. The devil will use those things to try to lure you right back into them. They may not be bad, but if they take much of your time away from the things of the Lord, your salvation only affects you. The Bible encourages us to taste and see that the Lord is good (Psalm 34:8). If you will begin to spend quality time with the Lord in prayer, reading the Word, church and fellowshipping with Christians, your life will change. Once you make the decision that you are going to serve the Lord and endeavor to share Jesus with others, your new life will be so much more exciting and fulfilling than anything the world offers. The things the world offers begin to lose their appeal or you can put them in their proper priority in your life. Leading people to Jesus, miracles, answered prayer. Nothing can compare.
