Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 279
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 279
October 6; Romans 8:6; 125/260(III); ‘Carnally & Spiritually Minded’
Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
2 Corinthians 5:17 teaches that when we become born again, we are new creations. Our spirit is what becomes new. Ezekiel 36:26 tells us that the Holy Spirit comes into our spirit and renovates our spirit from being hard, to a spirit of flesh. Again, that is what changes, our spirit. Our body and mind remain the same. We must discipline our body and renew our mind with the Word of God. Carnal thinking, setting our mind on the things we used to think about before becoming saved is death to what the Lord intends for us. What we think about, what we listen to or see, who we associate with can greatly hinder the plans the Lord has for our lives. As we renew our mind with the Word of God (Romans 12:2), our thoughts, followed by our actions begin to change as we line our life up with what the scriptures teach. There is no doubt that the mind is where our walk with the Lord is won or lost. What we filled our mind with in the past, will surely desire to influence our lives even after salvation. It is up to us to find out from God’s Word what is important to the Lord and then by the Word, prayer, church and worship retrain our mind to God’s way of thinking. It will seem foreign to you at first. But after a period of time, with some discipline, your mind will be reprogramed and your new thought patterns will open the door for the life of God, His blessings, provisions and direction. In addition, His peace that passes understanding will be yours.
