Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 270
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 270
September 27; Acts 27:23; 116/260(III); ‘Supernatural Insight’
Acts 27:23 For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve,
Paul was on a ship sailing for Rome. He warned the Roman centurion that there would be disaster if they sailed. The centurion heeded what the helmsman and the owner of the ship said, rather than what Paul knew by the Holy Spirit. Think of the advantage born again, Spirit filled Christians have. We have supernatural insight into future events. The helmsman knew the sea, supernatural insight is better. The ship owner was a wealthy businessman, supernatural insight is better. The ship sailed and just as the Holy Spirit showed Paul, the ship encountered severe weather, to the extent that they, after doing everything they could to save the ship, gave up any hope that this could be done. After several days of going without food, Paul stood in the midst of the crew and Roman soldiers, telling them that they should have listened to him. Really they should have listened to what the Holy Spirit told Paul. Paul told everyone not to fear that an angel spoke to Paul and told him no one on the ship would be killed, but the ship would be lost. Paul went on to say that he believed God that things would be exactly the way the Holy Spirit said they would be. Paul then took bread and ate it, encouraging the crew and soldiers to do the same. It turned out exactly the way the Holy Spirit and the angel told Paul it would. They ran the ship on the shore of an island and the ship was destroyed. The Bible tells us that we are led by the Holy Spirit. Believe that and discipline yourself to hear Him. He will bless you and help you in all that you do.
