Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 261

September 18;       Acts 18:25;       107/260(III);       ‘Give What You Got’

Acts 18:25 This man had been instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things of the Lord, though he knew only the baptism of John.

Apollos was a Jew who met Aquila and Priscilla in Ephesus.  Apollos was eloquent in the Word of God, faithful to teach what he knew about the Lord.  Aquila and Priscilla heard Apollos preach in the synagogue.  They realized, that as eloquent as Apollos was, he was limited in what he knew about the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John (the Baptist).  Aquila and Priscilla, seeing the zeal of Apollos, explained to him more fully the gospel of the Lord Jesus.  Now, with this new revelation he had been taught, Apollos desired to go to Achaia to teach what he had just learned.  He was given letters of recommendation and what he taught the believers in Achaia, helped them greatly.  When we first become born again, if we are serious about the Lord Jesus and desire to help others become Christians, we start by giving them what we got.  Even your limited knowledge is more than the unsaved know.  Share what you have learned and your faithfulness and love for the lost will allow the Lord to use you right where you are.  Then, just like Apollos learned from Aquila and Priscilla, go to church and sit under anointed teaching.  Read the Bible on your own.  Pray, telling the Lord you love Him, want to grow in the things of the Lord and that you desire greatly to lead others to Jesus.  Be faithful to give others what you know now.  Determine also, that you will learn more so that you can be the ambassador for Jesus, you were created to be.  How exciting.
