Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 250

September 7;       Acts 7:9;       96/260(III);       ‘God Was With Him’

Acts 7:9 "And the patriarchs, becoming envious, sold Joseph into Egypt. But God was with him

One of the seven waiters, Stephen, was mightily used by the Lord in signs and wonders.  The religious leaders disputed with him, but they were no match for wisdom of the Lord in Stephen.  Stephen was arrested, false witnesses accused him and he was brought before the high priest.  Stephen was allowed to speak and began to give the religious leaders a biblical history lesson.  As Stephen shared about the twelve patriarchs, he told the religious leaders about Joseph’s brothers becoming envious of him.  Joseph was Jacob’s favorite son and Jacob gave Joseph a coat of many colors.  His brothers knew Joseph was Jacob’s favorite son and they hated him for this.  Joseph’s brothers wanted to kill him, but sold him to traders and Joseph was brought to Egypt.  Joseph was betrayed by his brothers, lied about by the wife of the man he served in Egypt, and thrown in prison.  Through all of this, Joseph maintained a good attitude, which allowed the Lord to continuously be with him, take care of him and bless him.  Until Potiphar, the man Joseph served, was lied to about Joseph, Joseph was in charge of everything Potiphar had. Thrown in prison, Joseph rose to be in charge.  Interpreting dreams correctly got the attention of Pharaoh and Joseph was freed from prison and was elevated to second in command of Egypt.  Joseph was reunited with his father and forgave his brothers.  A good attitude blesses you keeps the Lord with you.
