Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 249
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 249
September 6; Acts 6:3; 95/260(III); ‘Full of the Spirit & Wisdom’
Acts 6:3 Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business;
The basic premise of the New Testament believers is that they not only are Born Again, but are also baptized in the Holy Spirit. If we, the body of Christ, are to continue the ministry of the Lord Jesus, as we have been commissioned to do, we need to be Spirit filled. As the church grew, some widows were being neglected of food. The twelve disciples, as those who oversaw the church would need to take care of this need, but they would not do this personally. Their part in the church was to pray and minister the Word. Seven men were selected to see to it that the widows’ natural needs were met. Notice, even though the ministry of the seven men was to the natural needs of the church, they were to be baptized in the Holy Spirit and full of wisdom (the Word of God). Verse 8 tells us that Stephen, one of the seven waiters was full of faith and power and signs and wonders flowed in his ministry. Regardless of what our ‘job’ is in the church we attend, we need to be Spirit filled and full of the Word. I am sure those widows had needs that a Spirit filled believer could minister to. Being Spirit filled equips you to be ready to minister to whatever situation you come across in your daily life. Like Jesus we must always be seeking and saving the lost (Luke 19:10) and ministering to those in the church. The anointing upon us to bring the power of the Holy Spirit into any circumstance puts us in position to always be a blessing.
