Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 246

September 3;       Acts 3:16;       92/260(III);       ‘Faith in Jesus’ Name’

Acts 3:16 And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.

We have been given the Name of Jesus to use in ministry.  In John 16, the Lord Jesus told us to pray to the Father in His Name.  This is the New Testament way to pray.  Jesus, in Mark 16:17, the Great Commission, tells us that we can cast out demons in His Name.  Paul did this when he and Silas were in Philippi (Acts 16).  Paul cast a spirit of divination out of a servant girl.  John 14:14 teaches that whatever we ask, literally demand, in the Name of Jesus, Jesus will do it.  One of the ways a person can be healed is by using the Name of Jesus and demanding that that person be healed.  Paul did that in this verse.  This lame man, at the beautiful gate of the temple, had never walked.  He was lame from his mother’s womb.  This man sat at the gate into the temple and begged.  The lame man saw Peter and John and asked them for money.  Peter said they did not have silver or gold, but what they had they would give him.  Then without prayer, Peter ‘demanded’ that the crippled man get up in the Name of Jesus.  Peter then took him by the hand raised him to his feet and he was healed.  Peter was with Jesus when Jesus told His disciples they could use His Name to demand that things be changed.  Peter believed the Lord and did exactly what Jesus said, with the results Jesus said he would have. The Name of Jesus is still available for us to use to demand healing.  Philippians 2 tells us the Father gave Jesus the highest Name.  Let’s use it.
