Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 244
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 244
September 1; Acts 1:14; 90/260(III); ‘One Accord’
Acts 1:14 These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.
Psalm 133:1 teaches that it is good when Christians dwell together in unity. Acts 4:24 tells us that the early church, when Peter and John had a need, prayed together in unity. The prayer was answered and was so powerful that it shook the building they were in. There is one ‘Super Star’ whose name is Jesus. Every believer has a part to play in continuing Jesus’ work on the earth. I Corinthians 12 likens the church to a human body. Every part of a human body was created by the Lord with a purpose and together that body functions exactly as it should. In this analogy, the Word makes it clear that there is no part of the body that is unimportant. At church services, there are so many things that need to be done in order that the service blesses and meets the need of those who attend. The members of the congregation of a local church, have been given by the Lord talents that they can use to ensure that everyone who attends, regardless of their needs, will be ministered to. In Acts 6 there were natural needs widows had that had to be taken care of. The disciples had their assignment from the Lord to study the Word and pray. They needed to be faithful to do this. Seven men were chosen to be waiters and care for the needs of the widows. Those seven believers were born again and Spirit filled. Each played an important role in the success of the church. Do your part, be strong spiritually, work together and watch the church impact a community mightily.
