August 25;       John 15:13:       83/260(III);       ‘A Life Laid Down’

John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends.

The Lord Jesus came into this world to die.  Not only to die an incredibly agonizing physical death, but Jesus paid the price for our sins and sicknesses by taking them upon Himself.  He never sinned.  Imagine the horror of becoming every sin that ever was, would be.  Jesus did that for everyone.  John 3:16 teaches that the Father sent Jesus into the world.  The world Jesus was sent into hated and rejected Jesus.  They wanted and still do want nothing to do with the things of the Lord.  The Lord is a faith God and He believes that those who do get born again, will help those who do not yet know Jesus, to know the truth about Jesus and they too will become saved.  In this verse Jesus tells us that He lays down His life for His friends.  I believe Jesus sees everyone as His friend until they leave this world without making Him their Lord and Savior.  Remember, Jesus called Judas friend.  I wonder if that one word was a big part in Judas having such great remorse over what he did, that he committed suicide.  I believe even in heaven when those who have rejected Jesus are condemned to hell, their last picture of Jesus will be the love He has for them even though they will be forever separated from Him.  Verse 14 tells us we are His friends when we do what He commands. Know and do the Word, get saved, fulfill your ministry, know Him now and forever be with your Friend.
