Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 233
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 233
August 21; John 11:25: 79/260(III); ‘The Resurrection and The Life’
John 11:25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
This is one of the seven I AM statements made by the Lord Jesus Christ in the gospel of John. Jesus is the resurrection. He is the first one to raise from the dead and go to heaven. When we become born again, we are guaranteed to be resurrected as well. What a comfort that is. Death is terrifying for those who do not know the Lord. Once we become a Christian, death no longer is fearful. We have work to do here on the earth as we continue the ministry of Jesus, but we no longer fear the day we will leave this world. We have a ‘ticket’ to heaven. That is why Jesus says, “Though he may die, he shall live.” When we die physically, as a Christian, our spirit is immediately in the presence of the Lord. We are alive forevermore, in the presence of our Lord and Savior. Jesus also tells us that He is the life. Once we are saved, the life of God is ours. God’s love, the fruit of the Spirit and the Holy Spirit Himself comes into our spirit. We can and should manifest the character and nature of the Lord Jesus on this earth. We also, having the life of God in us, are blessed with all of the blessings the Lord has provided for us in His Word. His life and nature in us, and the blessings that are ours, opens the door for the abundant life that this world cannot produce. The life of the Lord replaces the life the world offers. Once your spirit comes alive with Jesus, our priorities and what is important to us change completely. Eternal life and His life in us now.
