Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 231

August 19;       John 9:3:       77/260(III);       ‘The Works of God’

John 9:3 Jesus answered, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.

Jesus saw a man born blind.  His disciples asked Jesus if this man’s parents or this man sinned so that he was born blind.  Back then, they believed that a baby could sin in its mother’s womb.  Jesus replied that neither the parents nor the man sinned.  The earth was cursed when Adam sinned.  Sickness is part of the curse.  Jesus then went on to say that the works of the Lord were going to be revealed in this man.  Galatians 3:13 teaches that the Lord Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the Law by becoming that curse for us.  Jesus took our sicknesses, poverty and spiritual death upon Himself on the cross, so that we would not have to bear them.  Even though Jesus had not yet gone to the cross, He could function on the earth as if He had.  There is no time in the spiritual realm so Jesus could minister as if His redemptive work had already taken place.  Additionally, Jesus’ was not born under the curse, since His ‘Father’s the Holy Spirit and His blood was pure.  Jesus was completely free to minister.  He healed this blind man and this is where this verse gets so exciting.  Jesus lived in a cursed world, but He was not under the curse.  He could and did set people free from the results of the curse while He was on the earth and then commanded us to continue doing what He did.   He sent the Holy Spirit when He returned to heaven after the crucifixion and empowered us to minister just as He did.  Now the works of God, are revealed in hurting humanity, by us, as we minister as Jesus did and set them free,
