Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 224

August 12;       John 2:19;       70/260(III);       ‘Destroy This Temple’

John 2:19 Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will

raise it up."

The Lord Jesus drove out the money changers and those who sold animals in the Temple.  He was offended.  The Temple building and the Church building is where the Lord’s work is to be done.  As always, the religious leaders were looking for things to challenge Him on.  They asked Him by what authority He threw those men out of the Temple.  Jesus said, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”  The religious leaders thought Jesus was talking about the literal Temple that took forty-six years to build.  The Lord Jesus was talking about His body, soon to be crucified.  He knew that He would raise from the dead in three days.  The incredible genius of the Word of God is amazing.  Our body, like the Lord Jesus’ body is the temple of the Holy Spirit.  In the Temple, the ‘business’ of the Lord is to be done.  The teaching of the Word, prayer, ministry and fellowship.  In our body, our temple, the ‘business’ of the Lord is to be done as well.  We are to learn the Word and then share the Word with others.  We are to learn how to pray, then pray for ourselves and others.  We are to take what we learn in the Temple (Church) and minister to others, helping them and leading them to Jesus.  Our spirit needs fellowship with other believers.  What an honor.  What transpires in the Temple (Church) is to transpire in our temple.  Everywhere we go, we have the privilege and command to minister out of the temple of our body.
