Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 222

August 10;       Luke 24:39;       68/260(III);       ‘An Eternal Reminder’

Luke 24:39 Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have."

Someone said, “The only man made things that will be in heaven, are the scars of Jesus.”  This is incredibly profound.  The Lord Jesus, after He rose from the dead, suddenly appeared to His disciples, where they were staying.  His resurrection body allowed Him to do this. The Lord showed them the scars in His hands and feet from the crucifixion.  Jesus will forever have these scars as a reminder of His love, commitment and faithfulness to us.  The Apostle Paul tells us in Galatians 6:17, he bears in his body the scars he received for serving the Lord.  When Paul stands before the Lord Jesus at the Bema (Reward) Throne, Jesus will not see the literal scars of Paul, but will know absolutely, Paul’s commitment to Jesus and the price he paid for his ministry.  Here is an incredibly important truth to know and carefully consider.  Each of us will stand before the Lord Jesus to receive rewards for serving Jesus on earth.  We will clearly see the scars of Jesus, reminding us of what He was willing to do for us.  Jesus will also clearly know what we did with the ministry each of us was given.  Did you faithfully read your Bible and pray? Did you share the gospel?  Did your conduct reflect Jesus?  Did you attend church faithfully and play an active role or were you too busy?  There will be no excuses then only the reality of how important serving Jesus was to you.  Do His work now, play an active role in your church.  How eternally glad you will be.
