Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 187
July 6; Mark 5:22; 33/260(III); ‘When There’s a Need’
Mark 5:22 And behold, one of the rulers of the synagogue came, Jairus by name. And when he saw Him, he fell at His feet
Jairus was a religious man, a ruler of the synagogue. Most of the religious leaders due to pride and jealousy hated Jesus. We do not know what Jairus thought about Jesus, Jairus had a desperate need. His young daughter was very sick, at the point of death and Jairus knew that Jesus Christ healed. If he was jealous of Jesus, he was not too proud to go to him and fall on his knees, begging the Lord to come and heal his little girl. Verses 21 tells us that a multitude of people had gathered to see Jesus. Many of them must have been in Jairus’ synagogue, yet right in front of them, he fell at Jesus’ feet pleading for Jesus to heal her. Regardless of Jairus’ feelings toward the Lord Jesus, Jesus willingly went with him to heal the daughter. Jairus told Jesus that he knew that if Jesus laid hands on the girl, she would live. The Lord Jesus follows faith. When you have a need, by faith declare that the Lord has met that need and Jesus ‘will be there’. As they walked to Jairus’ home, some came from his home and told Jairus that his daughter had died. Jesus quickly told Jairus not to fear, but believe. Jesus arrived at the home, took Peter, James and John with Him along with the daughter’s parents. He wanted those who would believe with Him. Jesus then raised the girl from the dead. Jairus knew Jesus healed because he had heard and probably seen His miracles . If you need healing go where they believe Jesus heals today. A need overcomes emotions.
