Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 182

July 1;    Matthew 27:55;    27/260(III);    ‘Faithful Women’

Matthew 27:55 "And many women who followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering to Him, were there looking on from afar,".

In Jesus’ ministry, women ministered to Him and followed Him (Mark 15:41, etc.).  At the cross, with the exception of the Apostle John, it was women who were there.  The Lord Jesus was the only One who displayed towards them the godly love that was inside of Him.  He was always a gentleman and surely no one treated these women with the courtesy and dignity that Jesus did.  In the Jewish culture, like so many other cultures, women were not treated with the respect they deserve.  Modern women’s groups that mock Christianity have no clue that Jesus Christ and only Jesus Christ, truly liberates women.  Women often seem to be more spiritually sensitive to the things of God than men.  Statistics show that women get saved 80% of the time before their husbands do.  Much of the work of the ministry done in churches is done by faithful women.  The Bible teaches about the faithfulness of Ruth to her mother-in-law Naomi.  And the tremendous courage of Esther to talk to the king was what spared the Jews from annihilation.  Mary, the mother of Jesus,  had incredible faith to believe the angel that she could be the mother of God’s Son, conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit.  The angel Gabriel told Joseph in a dream how Mary’s pregnancy had come about, which no one else knew.  Think of the condemnation she must have endured.  The Bible is full of godly, courageous women and they continue today in churches all over the world.  They blessed the Lord Jesus when He walked this earth, and continue to do so for many of us today.
