Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 174

June 23;   Matthew 19:2;   19/260(III);   ‘Multitudes Followed, He Healed’

Matthew 19:2 And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them there.

Once it was known that the Lord Jesus healed, multitudes followed Him wherever He went.  Just as it is today, people get sick.  Our ability to treat sick people is vastly greater than then, but there are still times when the medical profession must admit that there is nothing more that they can do.  That was never the case for the Lord Jesus.  Think about this, if our ability to receive healing from the Lord Jesus ended when He returned to heaven, then why even tell us that He healed.  That would cause me to be resentful that what was available when Jesus ministered on the earth is no longer available.  The Lord Jesus, ministered on this earth as a Man anointed by the Holy Spirit.  He left the powers of His deity in heaven and became a Man.  After His baptism in the Jordan River, by John the Baptist, the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus and His healing ministry began.  Jesus told His disciples, His followers and us that He sends us to minister just as His Father sent Him to minister.  The healing power of the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples and others in the upper room on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2).  The Book of Acts teaches the disciple healed as Jesus did.  Stephen, was a waiter and he healed just as Jesus did.  There have been men and women over the years who had great healing ministries.  The truth is the power of the Holy Spirit belongs to every Christian.  That power comes upon us when we are baptized in the Holy Spirit.  In this way, the healing ministry of Jesus can and does continue through us.  What an honor it is to heal others by the Lord’s power.  Continuing Jesus’ ministry – WOW!
