Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 170

June 19;   Matthew 15:28;   15/260(III);   ‘Faith Never Quits’

Matthew 15:28 Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

The Lord Jesus was in the region of Tyre and Sidon.  A Canaanite woman had heard about Jesus and that He healed.  She had a daughter who was demon possessed and she begged Jesus to heal her.  At first Jesus did not say a word to her and the disciples urged Jesus to send her away.  Jesus then said to her that He came to minister to the Jews.  She did not quit, but came up to Jesus and worshiped Him continuing to beg for His help.  Jesus then likened healing to children’s bread and He told this woman that healing, intended for the Jews was not to be given to dogs (Jesus called her a dog).  This did not daunt the woman, she answered that even the little dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.  This answer caused the Lord Jesus to tell the woman that she had great faith and that her daughter was healed and she was.  This is kind, loving, compassionate Jesus.  Why did He treat this woman this way?  Remember the Lord Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit.  Faith is vital to our receiving anything from the Lord. Jesus was watching what this woman did and what this woman said.  If she had quit, her daughter would never have been healed.  The Lord Jesus is God and even though He left His deity in heaven and ministered as a Man, relationally, He still was God.  The Holy Spirit led Jesus to do exactly what drew the faith out of this woman.  Faith will always get the job done.  Her faith impressed Jesus.  Let’s let our faith do the same.
