Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 16
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 16
January 16; Romans 4:21; 16/260(II); ‘Fully Persuaded’
Romans 4:21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. NIV
There are wonderful truths, about faith, that we can learn from Abraham’s relationship with the Lord. Abraham was obedient. In Genesis 12, the Lord tells him to leave where he was living. Abraham was not told where to go, but he obeyed the voice of God. The Lord Jesus and Abraham developed a relationship and the Lord blessed and greatly prospered Abraham. The one thing that Abraham wanted more than anything and did not have, was s child. His wife Sarah was barren. When Abraham told this to the Lord, the Lord told him that indeed he would have a son. In fact, Jesus showed Abraham all of the stars in the sky and told him that Abraham would have that many descendants. The Lord cut a covenant with Abraham. Covenants were sacred, and were not broken by men, how much more when God makes the covenant. Because of their relationship and the covenant, Abraham believed what God said. He became fully persuaded. Abraham’s name was Abram, but the Lord changed it to Abraham, meaning the father of many nations. Every time Abraham introduced himself he was telling others that he was exactly who the Lord told him he would be, the father of many nations. Abraham was 99 when Isaac was conceived, far too old to father a child. Yet Abraham ignored natural laws and believed God. Abraham got to know the Lord so well that the Bible calls him ‘the friend of God.’ The Bible does not teach about Abraham so you would have a nice story to read. We are told about Abraham so that you and I would use his example to become fully persuaded as well.
