Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 144

May 24;       Revelation 11:3;       144/260(II);       ‘The Two Witnesses’

Revelation 11:3 And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth."

The second half of the tribulation is about to begin.  This period of three and one half years is called the Great Tribulation.  It will be a time of unprecedented persecution as the anti-Christ declares that he is god and demands worship.  Again, we must remember that this is the revelation of Jesus Christ and He is always in control.  Most who study Revelation believe that these two witnesses are Moses and Elijah resurrected for this specific time and ministry.  The reason most believe they are Moses and Elijah is because of the powers they have.  They can prevent it from raining as Elijah did and they can strike the earth will all kinds of plagues as Moses did when he was in Egypt.  Regardless, if those who are the enemies of Jesus try to harm them fire comes out of their mouths and consumes their enemies.  They are giving testimony about Jesus and when they have finished testifying (v7), they are attacked and killed by the beast that comes out of the bottomless pit.  So hated are the two witnesses that their bodies will lie in the street three and one half days.  No one will bury them.  The Lord will not be undone and He will resurrect them.  Obviously this terrifies God’s enemies.  Just when they are resurrected, there will be a terrible earthquake killing 7,000 people.  The Lord is still trying to reach the lost and because of all of these supernatural occurrences, many gave glory to God, hopefully getting saved.  A time like no other.  Jesus is Lord.
