Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 138
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 138
May 18; Revelation 5:10; 138/260(II); ‘Kings & Priests’
Revelation 5:10 And have made us kings and priests to our God; And we shall reign on the earth."
We have to understand, there is no time in the spirit realm. A scroll has been given to the Lord Jesus with an overview of what will happen in the end times. No one except Jesus was worthy to open the scroll, because Revelation is the revelation of Jesus Christ. The 24 elders are singing a song to the Lord praising Him for being worthy to open the scroll. They go on in the song to thank the Lord Jesus for His sacrifice on the cross and having redeemed us back to God the Father. I believe the 24 elders represent the 12 tribes of Israel in the Old Testament and the 12 Apostles in the New Testament. The sacrifice of Jesus on our behalf was revealed in the Old Testament and people were saved by believing the Messiah would come and save them from their sins. In the New Testament, we look back on the finished redemptive work of the Lord Jesus and when we believe Jesus is the Son of God and that He died for our sins and sicknesses, we are saved. Though the Lord Jesus is revealed to us as our Redeemer and the One who makes us kings and priests as the end times unfold, being a king and a priest is what we are and became when we were Born Again. The Lord Jesus gave us His authority to rule over demonic forces as a king and we, like a priest offer the Lord the sacrifices of praise. The Word of God clearly teaches who we are in the Old and New Testaments. Now, as time as we know it, is over, we are reminded in the Word by the song of the 24 elders, who we are and have been as Christians.
