Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 136
May 16; Revelation 3:20; 136/260(II); ‘I Stand at the Door’
Revelation 3:20 "Look! Here I stand at the door and knock. If you hear me calling and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal as friends. NLT
The Lord Jesus is still talking to the churches. The church of Laodicea has become lukewarm and this greatly displeases Jesus. Our Lord gave everything to save us and He deserves better from those who call Him their Lord. We are not talking about losing your salvation, but living your life and serving Him in a manner that shows appreciation and love. Jesus never gives up on us. In the Old Testament, the Jews, over and over walked away from the Lord and served idols. Since we have a free will, the Lord allowed them to do this. He backed off from them and their sin of following other gods caused them great misery and harm. After a period of time the Jews repented and cried out to the Lord to help them. The Bible teaches that He forgave them and rescued them, only to have to do it again and again. To the lukewarm Laodiceans, Jesus says that He knocks on the door of their spirit. If they will respond Jesus will come in and fellowship with them. By fellowshipping with Jesus, through the Word, prayer and worship a renewed love and desire to serve Him awakens. Becoming lukewarm need never happen. By making a decision that you will fellowship with the Lord and serve Him with the talents He has given you, your life will be fulfilling and a great blessing to many others. The Lord Jesus is a Gentleman and will not make you do anything. When I think of what He did for me and my life as a Christian, my desire for Him grows daily.
