Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 132

May 12;    3 John 4;   132/260(II);    ‘Walk in Truth’

3 John 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

There is joy in heaven when one sinner repents (Luke 15:7).  Jesus rejoiced when the 70 He sent out returned to Him and told Him that the demons were subject to them when they used Jesus’ Name (Luke 10:21).  Hebrews 11:6 teaches that we cannot please God without faith.  This verse tells us that the Lord has no greater joy (remember the Holy Spirit wrote 3 John) than to know that we, as Christians walk in truth.  Truth is the Word of God (John 17:17).  ‘Walk’ means to be occupied with.  In other words what brings great joy to the Lord is when we spend quality time in the Word of God.  Why would this be?  God’s Word is God speaking to us.  The Word of God reveals everything about Him.  His character, His love for us, His eternal plan to have us be with Him in heaven when we make Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.  As we spend time in the Word we know more and more about Him, which causes us to love the Lord in an ever growing way.  God’s Word, as we are diligent to read it, also prevents religious deception.  The Word protects us from religious lies that may sound good, but in reality are not the Word and cannot help us at best and at worst were intended to deceive us.  The Bible has much to say about the Word of God and its importance in our lives.  How joyful it must make the Lord Jesus, when we make the Word of God a vital part of our day.  As we do this, we become stronger spiritually.  Our love for the Lord grows as we learn more about Him and we realize more and more who we are because of what the Lord Jesus has done for us and what we can accomplish in His Name.
