Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 125
Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 125
May 5; 2 Peter 3:18; 125/260(II); ‘Grace & Knowledge’
2 Peter 3:18 but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
Peter’s final word in his second letter is to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus. What a powerful way to close this letter. We were not created by the Lord to remain as we were when we first became Born Again. The Lord Jesus loves us and has given us His Word to reveal His grace. Grace simply means everything the Lord has done for us simply because He loves us. Scriptures like ‘it is the Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom’ (Luke 12:32), comes to mind. How foolish would we be not to be diligent to spend time learning about the grace of Jesus Christ towards us and how He has lavished blessing after blessing upon us. Additionally, the Word give us knowledge about our Lord. Knowledge is the taking in of biblical information. Just as the incredible aspects of the grace of the Lord Jesus is revealed in God’s Word, the Word gives us knowledge of who our Lord is and the Word also reveals Jesus’ love for us and the provisions He has made on our behalf. Peter ends the letter giving the Lord glory both now and forever. Once you have accepted the Lord Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior it must be our goal to learn everything we can about Him. Not only what He has done for us, but the privilege we have to represent Him and tell others of His kindness and love. Peter knew Jesus personally when Jesus ministered on earth. Peter failed the Lord when he denied Jesus. Jesus forgave Peter and used him mightily. Think of Peter’s gratitude to the Lord. All of us have failed the Lord at some point. He forgave us and will use us. We should glorify Him forever for His mercy on us.
