Pastor Barry's "Chapter & Verse" Day 90

Before today's blog I wanted to share that this virus is here because the earth was cursed by Adam's sin.  Sickness is part of the curse.  Galatians 3:13 tells us that Jesus redeemed us from the curse when He became a curse for us on the cross.  Spend time in God's Word.  The Bible teaches that His Word is medicine (Proverbs 4:22).  We must use wisdom, but we never need to be afraid.  Jesus will never leave us nor forsake us (Hebrews 13:5) and His perfect love casts out fear (I John 4:18).  He will see us through. Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 90

March 31;   I Corinthians 13:8;   146/260(I);   ‘Love Never Fails’

1 Cointhians 13:8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.

In I Corinthians 13:4-7, the Bible teaches us the qualities of God’s love.  In verse 8 we are told that God’s love never fails.  It is and will be the only thing that remains.  You might say that is surely true because it is God’s love.  It is nice to know the qualities of God’s love, but how does that really help me?  Romans 5:5 states that God’s love is deposited into our spirits by the Holy Spirit when we become Born Again.  In the infinite wisdom of God, He puts His love in us for a few reasons.  First, His love and our speaking and acting according to that love, identifies us as disciples of Jesus.  Others should know we are Christians simply by the way we conduct ourselves.  Second, though the unsaved may not understand God’s love, they may even think it is impossible to live by, when you do, it makes a powerful impact on them.  Third, God’s love protects us.  Life is unfair and people can be are often are mean spirited and cruel.  The love of God is forgiving and realizes that without Jesus (and sometimes even with Jesus), people’s actions hurt.  Perhaps we too were that way before we became a Christian.  Here is a very important truth, God’s love is automatically deposited in your spirit when you become Born Again.  Even though it is in your spirit, you must choose to bring it out of your spirit and treat others as Jesus treats you.  His love in our spirit acts as a buffer to comfort our spirit and mind.  Jesus understands how painful life can be, so He put His love in us.  God’s love brings protection, peace and understanding.  God’s love never fails.  Love always impacts others.
