Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 8

January 8;   Luke 19:10;   63/260(VI);   ‘To Seek & Save’

Luke 19:10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."

The Lord Jesus was (and is) on a mission.  While He was here, He spent every day of His ministry preaching, teaching, healing and helping everyone He could come to know His Father in heaven.  His ministry started when He was 30 years of age, after the miracle power of the Holy Spirit came upon Him.  To save means to deliver from sin, to heal, to rescue, protect and make whole.  He did all of that and still does.  How?  He is in heaven now.  That’s right, but the Lord Jesus still seeks and saves the lost through His church – us.  In Ephesians 1 the Bible teaches that Jesus is the Head and we, His Church are His body.  We are one with Jesus.  In John 15 the Bible teaches that Jesus is the Vine and we are the braches of that vine.  Again, we are one with Jesus.  We are to actively seek to minister to anyone we can, just like Jesus did.  Several times in the gospels the Word of God tells us that Jesus saw someone who was hurting in some way.  That means that Jesus was always looking to help.  We too, must be looking for those who are having a challenge and share the gospel with them or pray for them, allowing the power of the Holy Spirit to minister through us.  As Jesus did, we are to tell them of God’s love, what the Lord Jesus did for them, to seek to pray with them to accept Jesus and to pray for any other need them may have.  What a privilege to seek and save the lost, just like Jesus, our Lord and Savior did. We have been trusted with the most important truth the world will ever know.  Tell the Lord you will not let Him down and then do all you can to duplicate the ministry of Jesus.
