Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 66

March 6;   Romans 4:19;   121/260(I);   ‘Consider Not’

Romans 4:19 And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah's womb.

Paul is teaching about the faith of Abraham, His friend.  Abraham and Sarah were childless, but the Lord told him that they would have a son.  The Lord blessed Abraham over and over and based on their relationship and the promise that Abraham and Sarah would have a son of their own, they believed God.  Faith was the key.  Abraham was almost 100 years old and Sarah 90, far too old in the natural to have children.  Once faith was established in Abraham’s heart that they would have a child, he no longer considered the age of his body nor the ‘deadness of Sarah’s womb.’  Both of them believed nothing was impossible for the Lord and Isaac was born.  Faith does not look at natural circumstances.  Faith takes God at His Word.  What an incredibly valuable truth this is for us today.  The Word of God is truth and the Word of God builds our faith.  Whatever the Word says is yours, is.  Your faith must be raised to the level that you believe the Lord regardless of anything that would contradict the Word.  This is not foolishness, this if the way we were created by the Lord to live.  Our challenge is that the Word of God is very different than secular living.  Our natural mind has trouble accepting wha the Word teaches since our natural mind has been taught by what the world has to say.  This is why diligently reading the Word is so vital.  As you make time to read what God says in His Word, faith grows and your mind becomes renewed to think as the Lord does.  As time goes on, the effort you make in the Word completely changes your thoughts and life. Life the way God intended.
