Pastor Barry's  "Chapter & Verse"  Day 58

February 27;   Acts 24:24;   113/260(VI);   ‘Sharing His Faith’

Acts 24:24 Several days later Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was a Jewess. He sent for Paul and listened to him as he spoke about faith in Christ Jesus.

Paul had been falsely accused and arrested.  The religious leaders, who hated Paul, made up lies about what he had done, though they could not prove any of this.  Paul was in prison, but the prison was not in him.  Paul had no fear of death and had long ago made the decision to share the gospel with anyone and everyone he could wherever he might be.  In Philippians 1 Paul twice said he desired to go to heaven and be with Jesus.  He also said that he knew how imporatant his ministry of teaching the Word was here on earth.  Knowing that he believed he would live for a longer time so that he could fulfill his ministry. Twice he shared the gospel with Felix the governor.  Felix’s position did not phase Paul at all. Paul’s life was the Lord Jesus Christ.  He accepted the fact that there would be persecution and physical abuse.  None of this phased Paul, and his determination to share the ‘Good News’ of Jesus Christ is a tremendous example to all of us.  One of my favorite verses is Galatians 6:17, where Paul tells us not to trouble him for he bore in his body the scars for serving the Lord Jesus.  There was a dignity in Paul, because of what he went through, that is incredibly powerful.  We may never have to suffer in the way that Paul did for the gospel’s sake, but let his example encourage you, to be bold to share, even if some of those you do share with are not receptive.  Many will be and God’s Word never comes back void.  In a world that majors on things incredibly unimportant, we have the honor to share the gospel of our Lord Jesus with others.  Finally something in life making sense to live for.
